Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Do you accept custom orders?

Yes—custom work is considered on a selective basis. My focus is on distinctive pieces that incorporate live edge wood, epoxy enhancements, and one-of-a-kind wood décor elements. If you have a project in mind that aligns with these specialties, I’m happy to discuss your vision and explore the possibilities.

Do you offer shipping or delivery?

At this time, we do not offer standard shipping. However, we welcome private showroom appointments where you can view available pieces in person, make your selection, and arrange pickup directly. For customers in the Austin area, we can also help coordinate trusted local delivery services for added convenience.

What types of wood do you work with?

I primarily work with woods that are native or well-sourced within Texas, including Pecan, Mesquite, Cypress, Oak, Elm, and Pine, while also incorporating select hardwoods such as Walnut and Maple. Each species offers its own distinct grain, character, and personality, allowing me to create pieces that are both functional and uniquely expressive.

Where are you located?

Our workshop is located in Southwest Austin, Texas. We offer private workshop visits by appointment, giving you the opportunity to view available pieces in person and discuss your interests directly.

What is an epoxy river table?

An epoxy river table is created by joining two slabs of live edge wood with poured epoxy resin between them, forming the appearance of a flowing “river” through the center of the piece. Once hardened, the epoxy creates a striking visual contrast that highlights the natural contours of the wood, with each slab resembling riverbanks along the edges. This process enhances the organic beauty of the wood while producing a durable, one-of-a-kind functional art piece.

What finishes do you use?

I work with a wide range of finishes depending on the piece, including polyurethanes, clear epoxy overcoats, oils, and waxes. One of my preferred specialty finishes is Polyx-Oil, which combines the natural beauty of oils and waxes while providing excellent sheen, durability, and long-term protection. This flexibility allows me to match the finish to both the function and character of each project.

Where do you source your wood?

I source my wood from a wide network of trusted mills and specialty vendors throughout Central Texas, generally within a 100-mile radius of Austin. This includes sources from Austin, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, and surrounding areas, allowing me to find distinctive slabs and quality materials for each unique project.

What are your favorite woodworking tools?

This may sound a little unusual, but one of my favorite parts of woodworking is actually sanding. There’s something deeply satisfying and almost meditative about it. I put on my headphones, listen to a good podcast, and settle into the process of transforming rough wood into a smooth, refined piece that reveals the grain, texture, and hidden beauty within. It’s where craftsmanship and calm often come together.

When did you begin woodworking?

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. My woodworking journey began in my twenties by refinishing old furniture, which gradually evolved into building practical pieces such as work tables, shelves, and other functional items for the home, garden, and garage. After moving to Texas, I discovered a deep appreciation for live edge wood and began focusing on creating distinctive pieces while developing my skills in epoxy river craftsmanship.

Where did you learn about working with epoxy?

My background is somewhat unique in the woodworking world. I hold a Master’s Degree in Applied Chemistry with an emphasis in epoxy chemistry, which gives me a deep technical understanding of the materials I work with. Combined with my experience in colors and pigments from my first company, Colorations, I’m able to blend science, artistry, and craftsmanship to create epoxy enhancements that bring distinctive beauty and originality to my wood projects.
